yoga nidra

About Yoga Nidra

Yoga Nidra is a state of complete relaxation where inner awareness is progressively induced by following a set of verbal instructions.

Instructions prompt practitioners through the 5 koshas or sheaths by drawing all 5 senses inwards, except for their hearing, to help participants into a state called prajna (know as the deep sleep state), while staying conscious.

Although the aim of Yoga Nidra, like meditation, is samadhi or meditative absorption, practitioners find the aftereffects of Nidra sessions are relaxation, a feeling of being well rested, and an ability to better manage stress and anxiety.

  • A comfortable quiet-ish space. (Couch, Bed, Wherever!)
  • A device for audio playback - headphones encouraged but not necessary!

Yin Yoga is a passive style of yoga that involves holding poses passively for long periods of time (from 1 to 5 minutes or more). Students can expect to explore prompts for personal reflection, release tension, and cultivate a feeling of wellbeing.
