Classes

How do I prepare for a yoga class?

For Hatha Yoga, it's usually recommended to be on an empty stomach (about 2 hours after eating a meal) as practicing a variety of poses can be quite uncomfortable after eating. If you need to eat before class, it's recommended to try lighter fare (like fruit or nuts).

Take off any easy to remove jewlery like necklaces, earrings, rings as to limit the amount of distraction they may cause while moving.

What do I wear?

Wear light, loose fitting clothing that is easy to move in and won't shift too much when you move. This might be loose fitting sweatpants, pyjamas, long or short sleeved t-shirts, or light sweaters. Fancy leggings and sport tops are fun but not required.

What do I need to bring?

Having a bottle of water, a slip free soft surface (like a yoga mat or carpet) and a box of tissues (especially helpful for guided breathing exercises) nearby is recommended.

For props, typically I'll send a list of props with the link as well as DIY substitutes if you don't have them (they can be expensive!). If you don't have props, no worries - they're nice to have but not mandatory to participate.

I noticed in group classes we repeat sequences. Why?

Repeating sequences and poses can have a variety of benefits. Physically you're able to notice changes in your range of motion, muscular strength, and tension. In addition to noticing daily changes in physicality, repeating sequences and poses can bring awareness to shifts in energy, emotion, and head space.

Booking

Can I participate in class without filling out a waiver?

Not at this time. Waivers are required to be completed before class as a best practice. This is a boundary for me when practicing any movement, asana or meditation based class.

What do I do if I need to cancel or reschedule?

If it's 24 hours or earlier before your lesson you can follow the links in your confirmation email. If you need to cancel or reschedule less than 24 hours in advance please reach out.

Links are sent about 10-30 minute before class time but if you don't get one, please send me an email.

Rates

Where can I find your rates?

Lessons and group classes are all offered on a Sliding Scale basis. You can learn more about sliding scale pricing here.

When you go to book your class, you'll find pricing information based on duration and number of participants.

I'm confused about sliding scale prices. Can you explain a little further how it works?

Sliding scale rates aim for folks with access to the most resources (Sliding Scale 3) to subsidize those with the least access to resources (Sliding Scale 1). This is an effort to uphold more equitable pricing in yoga and ensuring that I get compensated for my work/labour.

Sliding Scale 2 represents the "sticker price" of a drop in class.

Finances are a concern for me. What is your process for accessing Pay What You Can or Financial Barrier Free classes?

Send me an email with basic details about yourself (Name, email, etc...). I'll reply with a private link where you can book your lesson with an option to pay what you can (payment not required). Spots are available financial barrier free with priority given to BIPOC, LGBTQIA2s+ folks. If you don't know what to write or feel a bit awkward - just ask for a class on a tab and I'll set you up.
